Mari's Journey

I have a young teen dancer in my special needs dance class. She just joined the program on scholarship last year, and I am so excited to see and teach her again in the fall. Her name is Mari, and when she's dancing her body emanates pure joy - from her smile to her outstretched arms and moving hips. As it often happens, I start painting and someone or some idea comes into my head and finds its way onto the canvas. I think this painting signifies Mari breaking down barriers imposed by the label put on her, and my prayers for her doing so.
